Hi all,

I have a 1995 P38.

The windows and mirrors in the car have all been working perfectly up till now, the drivers' regulator was renewed last year.

However, when I went to open the drivers' window, it would not move at all and displays 'Window not set' when i press the button. The battery has not been disconnected/ nothing touched so I'm not sure where to look.

The mirror on the same side is also not working now, but does tilt downwards as usual when I select reverse gear.

Anything common I can check?

Many thanks :)

Hi David
So, if your mirror works ok when reverse is selected, that would say your door outstation is working OK. It can only be the centre console switchpack outstation or the BeCM then (if all fuses are OK). As you're getting 'window not set' on the dash display when you press the window button, that would also say that the BeCM is communicating OK with the switchpack outstation but not actually operating the window. I wonder if you have two faults here? The window is obviously operated quite frequently but how often do you adjust the mirrors manually? Is it possible that you only noticed the mirror not working when you tried it after finding the window not working?

i have the same prob like u,but additional to that the upper tailgate will open but when i press the button again the lower wont open, mine is a lhd and the passenger door does that,i have discovered that if i open the door wide open and close it it will cure the fault,it seems there is a loose wire inside the door on the outstation

Sorry Derek i've been misleading you! Took the car out earlier and I can confirm that neither the window or mirror on the driver's side works at all. I must have imagined the mirror tilting when I select reverse. Neither will the mirror respond to the centre console switch.
All other windows and passenger side mirror work fine. Seems like a problem local to the door itself?
Jorjio, I will try opening the door wide, see if that changes anything! :)

Aha! Then yes, that does sound like a door related problem. What about your central locking? Is that working OK on the drivers door? This also goes through the door outstation and would indicate whether this was completely dead or whether it's just the window and mirror. (The door outstation communicates with the BeCM over the same wires for all functions so if the central locking is working, it would say the outstation is probably OK). Other than that, connections and wire breaks as Jorjio suggests.

Hi,
yes the central locking works fine on the problem drivers door, as do the speakers. So I shall check the wiring and it's connections for integrity? The BeCM is located under the driver's seat I think? I shall trace the wiring back from there.

Thanks for your help!
