hi all just fitted a 12000lbs pull winch on me defender but what to i lubricate it with as in the manual it says dont use oil on the cable. on previous winches ive used wd40 or duck oil.
cheers

under no circumstances use wd40!!!!!!
not many people realise wd40 contains salt and also fine grit it aint good..always use a lubricant with ptfe in it this will also give a waterproof barrier ideal for winch cables..

i use the 3in1 ptfe spray or silicone spray its in the yellow can, depending on the size of yer winch and how much cable , give it the hole can

your winch cable should be impregnated with oil hency why you should not pressure wash your winch cable

I didn't know it contained salt, but i had been told that it is mildly corrosive, but so is lemon juice. I have used it on things to protect them in storage before to no visible ill effects, but nothing critical like a winch cable. I do know it dries up though so isn't a good permanent lubricant.
