Winch or new Intercooler?

Hey all

Been promising that I'm going to get a nice upgrade for my Defender, I'm thinking either a winch was looking at these Champion Winches or a new intercooler to go with my new 200tdi? Really am stuck tbh :rolleyes:
 
whats going to give you the most value for money ? intercooler gives you alittle more go ,and alittle better mpg . or a winch that will sit idle for quite some time. do you like going quicker, or do you like going offroad.

Like going quicker, but I would use the winch at home for pulling stuff, and also I can go off-roading and feel a bit 'safer' I know it won't make me a better driver, but if it all goes tit's up then at least I have a better chance of getting out :D

the winch would be on my list. but i had a large intercooler on my 90, and it made it loads better, but they aint worth 400 quid.
 
Alright dude i was having the exact same thoughts with my td5 ive ended up with a bigger intercooler my thinking was its not very often u go offroad on ya bill so buy a strong piece of rope for the time bieng and get a winch when u can but thats just me if u go offroadin by urself go 4 the winch :D

and buy a gnd anchor aswell...cos only a muppet goes out laneing/offroading on there own

a larger intercooler aint gonna turn it into a sports car and aint gonna suddenly get ya 55mpg

a winch however will be of use offroading/laneing if you ever or other people ever get stuck..an intercooler wouldnt be much use in this situation.

but i spose if you dont go laneing/offroading then a winch is just an exspensive ornament on the front of the landy
 
I bought both because I was in the same dilema. I went for an Alisports intercooler which wasnt cheap but I do notice a difference once my mate tweaked the pump. I bought a TMax winch and it performs well at pulling massive trees off the road at least.
 
Thanks all for your input, as some of you said, the intercooler is expensive for what it it, and at the end of the day it will only probably give me a couple of mph and a bit more torque, a winch will come in handy, and my dad has one, so he can't say the old 'Why do you need one?' dads will be dads, still got to explain to my mum though :doh: wish me luck :D

Thanks I'll have a gander, but as you said I'm not sure about fitment either, otherwise most performance intercoolers would probably be advertised as 200/300 or universal
