I tryingto find a winch for my Defender 90 "

And after much searching on the net and here on the forum, I arrived at 2 possible winchs.

One is a Champion C9500HS. ( is available both with synthetic rope or wire) Price (375/500 pounds)

The second is a Winchmax 13000lb. (are also available both with synthetic rope or wire) Price (325/435 pounds)

Some good advice on what winch I should go after? Pros and cons

Yes I have but i'm still not sure what to go for....

(however I didt finde a lot of yours unhelp replies.)

yes they litter the forum :D

you neglect to mention what you are trying to winch, what conditions you expect to encounter and how fast you want it all doing in.

I personally would buy a 2nd hand Warn/Superwinch/goodwinch/ramsey over that cheap chinese forged steel tat. they are more reliable, robust and parts can be bought to repair it in the event of failure or maintenance.

Thx for your reply.

The winch is for my 90" Softtop. And im only going to use it for weekend fun in the mudd. Nothing hardcore offroad.

I like the speed of the c9500hs.

I'll try to se if I can finde a good deal on a 2 hand Warn/Superwinch

I have an unbranded 12500lbs winch. it isn't that fast but it certainly pulls i have been using it hard at the weekend for over a year now and it still runs a treat.

Personally i would go for the plasma. My winch had the wire on it, pain in the arse the way it always coils up and when you release the tension of the drum it trys to unravel. I changed over to plasma rope far better, easier to handle lighter when your pulling it out and doesn't try to recoil itself.

Theres a few guys in the club using the champion winches, there slow but seem to reliable enough except the fly leads. i prefer the remotes
