I know it will need to be seen to, but was hoping to get them all sorted out in the summer....

Cheers

mmm, thats what I thought, as its within the 12" limit (or whatever measurement....) of a seat belt anchor, but it has nothing to actually do with the seat belt so wasn't sure....suppose same as the boot floor that I had repalced last year prior to MOT.....

It depends on how severe the rust is. The driver's side would appear to be the worse of the two. It is within 30cms of the seat belt mount. The Mot tester can't (shouldn't) poke it through. But, as above, it will pass at some stations and fail at others.

so, next question, anyone use a 'good' MOT garage in the somerset area?

Just moved down to the West Country from the North East, so no longer have any garages that I 'use and know' without travelling a 600+ odd mile round trip

He can use his likkle ammer :D and thumb preasure, and i would say that is probably a fail but it's realy upto the tester doing it as its hard to tell from a picture.

the cracked one will fail the other should be an advise as its within th prescibed area of seat belt anchorage dependant on tester though really !

oo mine are pretty bad nearly as bad as alexdon's and the mot is on monday. ah well fingers crossed

Fingers crossed, let me know how you get on, and if it passes - let me know the mot station for mine ;)

I am going to have a proper look at the weekend with screwdriver, and prod around to see how bad it really is....and then no doubt start to regret it, and have to get it welded etc.....

1 pass with advisory, other one fail but i would be looking to why the wing is coming away, the sealer is split mate on one side. unless its battle damage lol

Also look under wheel arch where pillar comes down, rust hole here MOT fail.

Had a look around in the wheel arch, can't see any holes, but dont want to take off all the mud and crud, as thats what is probably holding everything together under there

I dont know about others but my MOT man if presented with a clean car he goes around tapping with a toffy hammer, present a crud coverd one and out comes a great big screw driver that gets jabed in hard.

Makes me laugh as I got at an advisory last year as I had a child seat in the rear, and they could not test the seat belt, as they 'could not touch' anything and therefore remove the seat to test the belt!!!

Yet they can quite happy bash with a hammer.......MOT testers
