will this be any good for the axels and trans box?

Anyone know if this stuff will be any good for my defender axels and trans box?

Shell Harvella T Super Tractor Oil Universal STOU API CF-4 SF GL4 see specs 20 L | eBay

I know its meant to be 80ep 90ep or api gl4

anyone think it will be worth it because 5lt of the stuff is £20 .....

????

and i though oo shell good make

it will be ok for engine but perhaps a bit thin for diffs

its a super universal oil used in all parts of a tractor

so its suitable for a tractor because it dosent really do high speed but high torque but not a defender..... ?

As James says, it's a much thinner oil than EP90, so primarily for engines but because it's thin can also be used with some hydraulic systems.

Too thin for axles or transfer box.

Not exactly. This oil was designed to use in all areas of some tractors, one example is Fordson diesel major, this oil was specified for engine. gearbox and back axle by Ford for this tractor. I have owned Fordsons and I did not do this. preferring to use a high quality diesel oil in the engine as I think they have more detergent and hold the soot better than universal. The universal oil is more for tractor boxes and axles with wet brakes and dfflocs in them.
Im not sure what landy you have, but I use 90 weight gear oil in the diffs, transfer box and swivels. MTF in main box, and the very best turbodiesel spec engine oil I can find in the engine.
