Will the 3 Amigos go out on their own?

Hi,

Currently got the Disco 2 jacked up and in the process of getting to the sensor to check it/clean it re-seat it etc.

Question is thread title: Will the lights go off on their own if I sort it or, do i have to pay another 26 quid to get another diagnostic to clear the problem and maybe find out problem isnt sorted and i need a new sensor?

Mike,

If it was a wheel sensor issue which im assuming it is...I'm pretty sure the lights will stay illuminated untill you will have had the fault deleted off

But you never know!!!!

bummer!

so, i've actually got no way of knowing whether ive fixed it, or i need to get a new sensor.....

got my MOT on tuesday so i need to get it sorted!

Did you try it after cleaning up sensor? Do the amigos go out?

Options open to you.... get it cleared.....take a gamble you've fixed the problem and take for drive and see if Amigos come back.... and if that fails THEN you have cost of new sensor + 2X Testbook fee

Or

Buy a new wheel sensor NOW.....fit it and get the fault code cleared and that should be problem solved...

ORRRR as a real last resort if short on time etc etc....think about disconnecting the ABS dash light for the MOT.... then re-connect after and sort the sensor? (I wouldnt recommend this though...and I dont know how it's done either!)

I will start by saying I don't know much about D2's but RRC and D1's ABS system can give a blink code. If you can find out if you can get a blink code off the ABS ECU you should also be able to clear it. It may be clutching at straws but worth a go I would have thought.

The first diagnostic showed a fault with the o/s wheel sensor. Ive checked the bearings as best i can and they appear fine so it must be the sensor.

I've removed cleaned and replaced, but not tested with multimeter.

May just buy a new one and go from there.... will save me overall. Keep the other one as a spare if it tests ok...

early td5s the light will not go out if the problem is fixed later td5 the ecu can reset itself but not always

HI all, just to let you know i took my Disco2 to my local garage who does my MOT's and they deleted the codes free of charge.

2/3 amigos went out, the third (ABS) went out after drving for a minute...

They havent come back on..Sweet!

So, just to confirm what i did.

Removed wheel and break caliper
Removed break disc (make sure you buy replacement disc retaining screws before starting. mine strippied and i drilled it out.)
Removed sensor.
cleaned sensor
cleaned sensor seat (the area onto which the sensor sits)
greases and replaced and tightened

thats all. I would have tested the sensor but i didnt have a multimeter.

I'm about to re-seal both sunroofs.... wish me luck!
