I know they do fit, but is a spacer needed? Is the offset different than on the standard D1 steel rims?

i had one on and perfect fit
they are a lot heavier than the standard rim and will "pull " the d1 in that direction if you only have 1 on as I did
we call them rrc rims

yes they do
i had to use the rrc rim and tyre as it was my second spare wheel that I carried on a trip after 2 punctures
