Will L322 18" hurricanes fit a P38?

no they wont fit straight on as stud pattern is different
So is it a total no go, or would spacers do the trick do you know? From what little I've been able to glean (and understand) from various sites on the interweb, the PCD and offset seem to match, but the centre "bore" is slightly different. What this means in real terms I haven't the foggiest. :doh:

I was under the impression the pcd was different?? (I could be wrong) bore is the HUB centre size. too small and it won't fit over hub too big and the wheels will be centred by the studs ya can get a spacer to sort em out. but they int cheap..

Aha, ok. Hmm.. as far as I can tell (and I'm only going by what sites such as AlloyWheels.com tell me) is that both the P38 and the L322 have a PCD of 5x120 and an offset of 30 to 50. The bore on a P38 is 70.1 and on an L322 it's 72.6, which I guess means the wheels will fit over the hub centre as the bore is bigger, but won't be centred properly.
I guess this is where I need to start doing some homework on spacers. Thanks for helping me understand thus far!
Ah yes, well - at the very least it confirms what AlloyWheels.com and other sites say.

Aha - a bit more reading has taught me that spacers are needed for offset/clearing issues, but what I need for differing bore size are "spigot locating rings" to make sure the wheels are properly centred. Direct quote: "On generic after market wheels, the spigot hole inside the wheels is a lot bigger than the spigot on the car. So what you need to do in this case is fit spigot locating rings. These are just rings of aluminium or hard plastic, that fit over the spigot on your car and then have a proper fit with the spigot hole on the wheel. If you don't have the spigot taking all the weight of the car, chances are you'll break one or more studs when you drive the car hard or have to brake hard."
So I guess I need to search for spigot locating rings...

as above they fit straight on no probs at all

although you will need a set of wheel nuts as they are different to p38s.there are 2 different types of nuts for the l322,wheels 2002-2006 & 2006> onwards they are 2-3 quid each and you need 20
Well I had a rather unsuccessful attempt at fitting my new wheels today
I bought the aforementioned L322 wheelnuts, but it seems that despite the thread size being correct, the outer diameter doesn't fit inside the stud holes in the wheels - the nuts are a few millimetres too big. The wheels themselves came straight off 2.0_hippo's 2002 L322 TD6 HSE and (to the best of my knowledge) were the factory original Hurricanes.
Would anyone have any idea why these wheelnuts aren't correct for these wheels? I had assumed all L322 wheelnuts would be the same.

L322 wheel nuts are larger in diameter than P38 wheel nuts. L322 wheels also have a larger spigot to the hub. Try your P38 wheel nuts. If the wheels fit your hubs without adaptors and your P38 wheel nuts fit they are P38 Hurricanes.
That's right mate - not your fault though buddy! The wheels are top notch. Got a part-worn Goodyear Wrangler fitted on the one with less tread today.. 5mm to match the others.this doesnt sound too good !

It would seem I have the later wheelnuts when I need the earlier ones. I've contacted the seller as he didn't mention them being for a specific year, just general L322. He has a big Land Rover shop so hopefully he'll be able to swap them.
Nah mate, it's the other way around. The P38 wheelnuts are huge (27mm) compared to the L322 nuts (22mm). You're right about the spigot rings, but I got those - the centre bore's all nice and snug. It's just the wheelnuts - they *just* won't fit in the holes. But the P38 ones aren't even close - way too big.

this is where u could be going wrong ?
looks like you have got the more rounded 2005 onwards nuts

Undoubtedly. But the seller of the nuts I bought didn't specify, so it's his responsibility I'd say. He seems like a good chap though, was profusely apologetic about courier delays and I hadn't even contacted him.
