will it fit?

brought a w reg d2 4 litre v8 last week with 88k on the clock an today the gearbox is gone in it but i have a 4 litre v8 p38 that im breakin which had a recon box an what im wonderin is can i put the p38 box an torque convertor in the disco an is it a straight swap as i dont fancy the garage bill to get this box reconned

Have a look at the I.D. plates on the side, the P38 box is a ZF4HP22E i.e. electronic control. Earlier ones were hydraulic control.

the p38 that the box is in is a n reg is it possiable to swap em over or is it too much hassle an i just gotta bite the bullet

transfer boxes are totally different as is rear end of gear box you can make fit but it requires total rebuild as rear shaft and housing needs changing,but is possible as i have done a few
