I've been looking on ebay at vag scanners for sale that give you air bag, abs codes, although listed for use with vw and audi some say they work with most obd2 compliant cars, will they work with a freelander mk1 to turn the srs light out, anyone tried one on there freelander.

I doubt it. VCDS is the best tool for VAG cars.

Hawkeye seems to bet he the best tool for Land Rover. They do appear to be fairly make specific, but I could be wrong. There was another one discussed on here recently, which was only about £100, but I don't remember if anybody bought one.

They use the same teves abs system as a mkiv golf..I tried my old 4.9 version with no joy...the newer versions are suposed to be able to pull off generic codes from other manufacturers...but I suspect this is just ecu odb from 2005 upwards....From 2005 upwards more obd parameters are available from the ecu.

I've been doing some research and it seems the autel autolink al619 works with landrover freelanders abs and srs.

On amazon.com they are 141 dollars, thats less than 100 quid with free delivery to the UK, it said choose global express and i would get it by wednesday, on the reviews there are couple of reviews that say it worked with there landrover and discovery and cleared the 3 amigos.

This looks promising, i'll give it a couple of days to see if it will go off by itself, if not i will order one.

It seems things are cheaper in America

$141 around 94 quid on amazon.com with free delivery to the UK or £178 on amazon.co.uk, us brits getting ripped off again.

Didn't work out as cheap as i thought, went onto the .com site placed the item in my basket it said free shipping to my home address in yorkshire.

I clicked to go on then choose shipping method, the next page i get a break down $141.37 shipping $12 something import tax $30 dollars something, so total $185 dollars somthing, so comes to around £130 quid mark. No free shipping as it states and the extra tax bumps the price up.

I deleted the item from basket, i was going to get it today but the extra charges put me off, i'll give the light a few more days to see if goes out by itself, if not think i will have stick my hand in my pocket and get it anyway.
