Will a MGZT 2.5V6 fit a freelander

Following my last thread - vis a vis my shot engine in my 2.5 GS Freelander - Is the engine identical to that in a MGzt?

same engine only more powerful, not sure if its the same ECU,, 172 in the FL1, 180 and 190 in the MG. Drop in with the Rover boys at MG-Rover.org they will know on the spot. Rover 75 is the pipe and slippers brigade, they have a sub-forum for the MG ZT. Nice motor, Clarkson raved about the MG ZT V8

Good advice NI. An excellent group, I wish they had a Freelander forum. Was the MGZT V6 an automatic? Might be extra problems otherwise.

not sure about the auto box JF, surely the engine would mate to a variety of boxes.

The V6 engine issues in the FL would be the same for the Rover 45/ZS and 75/ZT

I think you are right about it fitting mechanically, probably the mapping is different for an automatic. Checking on 75's I see a lot are automatic so our poster may be lucky. Like yourself I think it's a great forum with no rubbish.The Rover boys don't have the phobia about V6's that we hear of on this group and some of their 75's have now done a lot of miles.

Reading the OP again, is it just the VIS that needs replaced?
They are around £500 for the intake system, two types were made.
I have an article from Enjoying MG, mar 06, on the VIS. Explains about the cleaning issues, Rover boys used a V8 flame trap as a oil separator in the breather line.

Sorry NI but having been away I have rather lost the thread on this one. However thanks for reminding me about the excellent Rover group, I will look up the VIS article.
