As above really, having a hard time deciding what to do about my spare wheel, its a bit too big so obscures the back door lock. considering a bonnet mount

I like bonnet mounts, some think they obscure the view but I don't agree, minimal difference imho, makes the bonnet harder to lift but that's all. Make sure you get a later one with the locking pin, or the defender one is much better.

You could move the mount on the back door, I think that's why some of them had the mounts lower down.

No idea if it will fit in the dip though, my s1 has it on the bonnet but the bonnet has no dip. Only other issue I can think of but is more s1 related, if you drive with the windscreen down and a 7.50 the supports don't quite reach the bonnet catches

Yes it will fit... I have one on mine, and doesn't really obstruct the view at all (just a little bit weird at first which a great lump of rubber visible in front of you).... only problem that I found was that it made the whole balance of the landy a bit front heavy . I now keep the spare wheel on the rear bulkhead (behind the front seats) which keeps a bit of weight in the back and stops the rear end bouncing so much.... if I need the extra space I then just chuck it up on the bonnet bracket :)

Mine used to be behind the bulkhead till my granddad moved it to the back door, just takes up too much room. Only problem was he fitted the carrier in the middle so anything bigger than a 650 and it obscures the door lock

my s3 back door has 2 plates mounted in the door for the rear spare wheel carrier to be fitted to, one in the middle and one at the bottom so maybe one could choose where to have it fitted, got a pic somewhere

voila

the spare mount has been put on the top plate which is in the middle of the door same as yours, but there does seem to be an identical plate in the bottom section that a spare wheel mount could be3 added to. I assume my door is no different from anyone elses

You can't see the wheels anyway and I'm afraid if you don't know where your corners are your going to get yourself in trouble

Yep, 750 on my bonnet no problems. Agree with OZAWOZA though, mounting it at the back would help it stop bouncing about. Mines a 109 css and when running with just me in it it is front heavy.

I cant move it further down due to the tow ball, it'd get in the way.

Going to ring selwyn at Bryn Glas garage and see if one of his old wrecks has a dished bonnet I can look at. I know what bonnets like to lift, brother has a bonnet mounted wheel on a 90. Apparantly you just get used to looking at the rubber in front of you as well (Ive got to get used from going from a fiesta to a series anyway so adding a little extra to get used to isnt such a big deal :D )

Hi Sam, you could buy or make a swing away type. I have 750's on mine and as said before it does restrict your view of the nearside front wing making it hard to judge the distance to parked cars etc.

Im 6'. Ive got a wheel carrier somewhere so can bolt it straight to my standard deluxe but would rather get a dished one so it sits a little lower if you see what I mean. Plus I think it'll make the wheel sit nicer on the bonnet to the eye
