Will a 300tdi pump fit a 200tdi

Hi All

For those that have perused my thread re water leak in timing case...

Well we have ended up with it being Diesel and having wrestled with two different pumps it looks like they are both broken with a capital F

So in the short supply of 200tdi pumps, willa 300tdi pump fit and run.

I believe the pumps were very similar both Bosch Ve pump, have heard that the 300 tdi run more pressure, could i fit that and 300tdi injectors

Has anyone done it sucessfully

or do i need to search for the wholly grail of a 200tdi pump..

Yes that's what i've been told and they seem to be cheaper than 200 FIP's and with a 300 pump it doesn't matter wether its from a defender or a disco so i will be looking at doing this on mine

Maybe contact one of the repairers like Diesel bob and see if he will do you a deal, you give him two duff pumps with some cash, and he gives you one decent pump?

As @lynall , talk to Diesel Bob. He totally rebuilt by Bosch VE last year at near half the price it would cost to buy elsewhere. Their standard of work is first rate/pump came back better than new...so why not just send your pump for a complete rebuild? And get him to do the same with your injectors at the same time...

not unconvinced he could be getting three yet, with my 110 project rapidly looking that way running out of other causes..

I have a spare 300 TDI FIP just 'incase' my 200TDI one goes South. All threads ive read say that its a reletivley straight swap. See here for additional advice http://slroc2.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4749.0

Hopefully the 200tdi pump will be refurbed or one made out of two..
