Hi

The fuel pump recently stopped working on my son's TD5 D90. No prior symptoms, just sudden loss of power. Checked the obvious fuse and checked that the relay clicked. All seemed good so used the cut-hole-in-the-floor method to replace the pump with an OEM one from Rimmer Bros. Still would not work, but the connector looked a bit dodgy (although I could get 12V at the plug in purge mode). Replaced the connector with the BMW part which is a perfect fit, checked there was voltage (13.31V), but the new pump still will not run.

Am I missing something or do I just have two dead pumps?

Have you put a load across the supply, A meter tells you its there but will it light a bulb ?

Have you put a supply on the old and new pump bypassing the wiring of the vehicle?

Measure the voltage in the plug from behind with needle probes while the pump is connected... if you still have good voltage the pump was DOA... if the voltage drops the problem is on the circuit, usually in the relay's socket or in the intermediar connector between the relay and pump(C0392)
