will a 200 tdi fit in the back of a 90?

Hi all, Sean you were right it fit in perfectly- I reversed onto an engine hoist, which the guy whom I bought engine from had. It did fill the 90 tho with the gear box, transfer box rads etc. Just need to get it out now, I looked at hiring a hoist but they want £55 a day- robbing bastards! I might have to try and buy a second hand one. 450 kgs it all weighed and the 21 year old un modified 90 (19j) got it from London to Wirral no probs at steady 60 all the way- only got the 90 last week so it was a good run for me to do!
Anyway thanks for advice again peeps!

ask around the local landy clubs, someone might have one you could borrow. (I've lent mine out on a few occassions, but, not anywhere near you i'm afraid.)

You'll also need it for a while on and off so hiring one will work out expensive (engine out of 90. Engine out of landy. Engine into landy. Engine back out cus something wasn't right. Engine back in again... well you get the picture!

with care, it is possible to slide an engine down a couple of scaff plank, out of a landy - but you'll need a few mates cos once it starts shifting downwards it'll not stop

My approach works well

1/ spread several tyres on floor behind landy

2/ open rear door

3/ tie rope to engine.

4/ tie other end of rope to immovable object Tree/lampost etc.

5/drive forwards slowly.

6/ Wait for engine to reach back door

7/ shoot forwards.

engine will now be sitting on the tyres. :D

probably best to buy a used crane.... then flog it when youve done with it....should work out cheaper than hiring and you might even break even

i tried that method the other day for getting a ton bag of sand off a big trailer

only to find the immovable object wasn't immovable

Hey all, got the engine out the back today- there's a building site up the road from mine, so I got the fella who was on the site lift to get it out with his forks- tenner well spent!
Once it was out I gave the 90 a good clean and realised quickly that I need new door and window seals lol! I ordered some of eBay along with some glow plugs, air, oil and fuel filter. I'm really surprised at the 19j 2.5td- after hearing alot of horror stories- so I might leave it in over the winter and fit tdi when it warms up a bit!
Hense the mini service- any advise on what else I could do service wise will be much appreciated!
Thanks again for all the advice guys!
