Hi guys, I'm Ollie, I'm 21 and I've actually looked through this forum quite a few times before. I've finally just managed to get on the Land Rover property ladder with a temporary car, sold to me by my uncle for £500. It's a 1996 Blue Discovery with a 3.9 V8i, it has an LPG conversion (which is brilliant except I have to drive 12.3 miles to my nearest LPG filling station).

The car has a 2 inch lift, installed by my uncle to make the underslung LPG tanks less of a nuisance, but I still find myself worrying about them every time I crest a hill!

So yeah, that's the car. As for me, I'm a farm worker by trade, mainly do seasonal stuff and my life ambition is to gain a commission into the British Army, preferably into an Armoured Regiment.

Currently living in Devizes, anyone in the area?

Cheers,
Ollie

So that's nearly a gallon gone then before you get there :p :D

You shouldn't have to worry about grounding the tanks.........on road ;) :D

WELCOME!

Yeah I work it out to be in the 4 litre ball park to get there. Good roads mind, I cruise over at a fairly constant 50 keeping it under 2000 revs.....either way it's not great! As a result I try to fill up alot of LPG (put in £40 worth this morning) and try and get back there on LPG.

Took her up on the military tracks near the Devizes artillery ranges the other day and over the course of about 90mins managed to burn somewhere between £15 and £20 worth of fuel (was running on petrol though)

The oddest thing is I don't really mind too much. I have just resigned myself to the fact that I shall no longer be able to spend huge amounts of money on other things. For instance, I used to go into Greggs most days to buy Sandwiches, cream doughnuts and drinks (I'm one of those annoying people who never puts weight on) but now I walk past and think "that's about 6 litres of petrol or 12 of LPG....I'll make my own sandwich"

It is hilarious when I think about it, I no longer look at the cost of things and think about pounds, instead I see prices and think "40 litres of LPG, that'll get me to Andover and back".....alas it probably wouldn't! :D

Thanks for the welcome guys. Look forward to getting to know the community and hopefully find some in my area. I live in Devizes but will be going to Cambridge for harvest on the 14th of July (start on the 15th). If anyone is from that neck of the woods PM me as there could be some time off for me when it's wet so I may as well take the beast somewhere.

Remember: if the mud ain't flying, you ain't trying!
