Wider Stance Wheels

This is covered over and over, I know... but I still cant get to the bottom of it... any help or thoughts would be gratefully received.

I have 1980s series 3 SWB and the wheels are now rusty and I would like to replace. I would like a slightly wider stance but do not want to go all the way to 1 Ton offset.. I am looking for something in between.

Also, if possible, I would like to reuse the tyres which are General Super all Grip 7.50R16C 112/110 N

I fitted HD (wolf) rims to mine with 7.50 tyres. Easier to come by than the 1-ton rims and a lot cheaper. I believe but would have to check that they actually have the same width and offset as the 1-tons as well. I am quite happy with them and have had no other issues since fitting.

Curious, but what is your actual question? Is it about getting different rims?

Lots of aftermarket choice. If you are running 7.50's, just don't go too wide on the rim width. Which may limit you a bit. Wider offset rims will give a 'different' stance. Or you could added wheel spacers as an easy fix (maybe even just paint your current rims),.

Wolf rims (have a look on Paddock Spares) are pretty affordable and would go straight on.

Of course there are wider tyres too. Although too wide might mean they either hit the arches and/or stick out of them. In the UK it is illegal for wheels to stick out.

31.10.5R15 is quite a nice size on a Series. This was used as a standard size in the USA I believe. Although would be close to sticking out of the arches.

Wolf rims are the same width (6.5j) but the offset is a bit narrower.

If you want to stick with 7.50s I'd say a wheel up to 6.5" wide. Military Land Rovers used 7.50s on the Wolf rims. There are two Wolf variants; one for tubed tyres and the other for tubeless.

Cant say for sure but I think they re the same as the standard defender rims posted in the table above by @300bhp/ton

Regular 109 rims should be the same as any other Series. It was the 109 One Ton that had the different rims.

The table above is wrong on the Wolf rim offset. I think it should actually be ET 20.6 the same as the One Ton rims.

That would explain my belief that they are the same, but I am a long way from an expert and have never bothered measuring them!
