Cruise control stops working on off on off, not working.
Car over heats badly.
Is there harmful gas I a new ac drier? I started to remove the plastic screw caps to install the unit, then I heard a hissing emitting. Quickly closed cap and now left in a bit of a worry. How do I Install the thing if all the gas is going to leak out. Do I need to put some oil or something back into it before I install it. I have tried researching this but the links and other crap that unloads from searching is not helping.
 
If you have a leak as you remove the plastic service caps then the recharge port valve insert is knackered, they are much the same as tyre ones.

I would ignore cruise and a/c faults, and concentrate on the overheat issue as that alone could scrap the car if it is serious enough.
 
It's not the valve one. It's got 2 additional stems which are open until closed by attaching them to the ac lines.

Yes that does sound like the service/recharge ports and they have valve cores just like you get in tyres, sadly to change the core you have to remove all the gas.

Right. Thanks. The drier I removed has no valves in 2 ports where the hoses connect to the drier, the other is a pressure sensor switch which has a valve.
 
I'll step outside and remove the plastic caps. Am I OK to install the drier after this. Also I have an o ring assortment but not green like the ones currently on the old drier. Is this a fundamental part I need to source i can I use alternative rubber o ring
 
Was going to take it in somewhere and have a pro sort out the air con refill. How am I supposed to save the gas. There's no way I can.
 
Are you saying that the gas inside the drier is my ac freon gas ? Forgive my ignorance but none of the parts sites have declared nothing like that there was any gas in them. So I should be able to hook the drier up and have cold ac ?
 
You know that whole 2 weeks of unbearable heat in the summer and global warming and all that. Come on mate I bought a new condenser radiator and everything
 
OK so no my driver window is an ongoing issue since my child spilt pop on the window switch pack centre console so I have been doing it manually with card off. Proper step toe job, but I have been sorting out the engine and ride. Whole new front end steering components, ball joints, new rad, oil cooler rad, pipes, all new heating and turbo pipes, I've done alot these past couple years. Since I had a major over heat I decided to replace the ac gear also.
 
While I've got the engine bay and front grill and rads out I thought I'd renew all the perishable over 20 year old pipes, and fix a few wiring issues. Should be done putting it all back together these next couple of days. It would take me a full day on my own but I have 3 young boys to look after. Full time father, self employed joiner, 1999 p38a 2.5d mechanic
 
May I suggest.
1. AC gas is not human friendly, take it to a place and get it recovered first then do the work then take it back. They should then test the system (for your work) then refill.
2. If you post pics it may also help.
3. It’s not the EAS drier you are thinking is the AC drier is it?
4. Post in the Range Rover section.
