Why have you chosen a defender?

I think I'd rather have a 2a than a defender, apart from the engine and power steering there's not really a huge difference.
Hmmmmm? Not really, apart from coil sprung suspension, better seats in the front, dash, instruments, door trims, full screen, better seats in the back (CSW), Not a lot really. On a similar note, what did the Romans ever do for us? ;)

I've had an SIII, Disco 1, Defender 110 and the missus drives a Freelander. The best compromise is probably the Disco, but the best by miles is the 110. I had my Disco for 9 years...when I bought it, it was in pretty good nick and even though I looked after it, it fell apart. It was comfy on long runs, and capable off road, but at the end of the day it's not a Defender. I can comfortably say all being well I will probably keep my 110 for life, but no way with a Disco. Yes, very original Discos may one day go up in value, but it will never do it like a Defender. It's like a Porsche 924 vs a 911.

The Defender is so flawed in so many ways, however it's all part of the charm, and will never "date". And all of the hose it out/flat pack it versatility of the Defender is just not there with the Disco. Wait until you have to work on the back of the engine/box and you realise you can't take the floor out for example.

I reckon you'd only realise how much you miss your 'Fender when it's gone...

Nice looking disco you have picked up there mate. But you need to keep your 90 as I know how much you have been through with it and you have fixed on it.

Over the last few decades mixed in with other toys I've had a 2A, Freelander and now the 110. All great in their own way, but I still look at the fender and think 'awesome'...
Unfortunately I look at this and think sell both, lpg it and put the original alloys back on...

I'll fetch my coat:oops:

Good price for that Jeep mate. Personally I'm with you. I think the older wranglers are better than defenders.

If it was me I'd sell the fender and have the disco as a daily for a couple of years and get the series up and running.
Then sell that too and get a Jeep.

I have a D1 commercial for daily and off roaring duties however maybe next year I'd like to get rid of it in favour of a mk2 grand Cherokee V8.
Much nicer to drive and with locking diffs as standard.
Though if I could afford it I'd love a rubicon of some sort

If you're foolishly thinking of getting rid of the Tratter, Disco and Series, why not get something far superior to the Yank Carp and look at the Austin Champ?
I had one many years ago and it would cruise along the M1 (the only motorway available at the time) at 85 all day, (there were no motorway speed restrictions either back then,) with the RollsRoyce engine purring away happily.

I see your dilemma, I had the same with mine. It's ok but I don't love it, and it constantly needs things doing to it. There just isn't anything that I do day to day that I think "that would be better in the defender".

For what it is worth I am 100% selling mine when it has been painted. I'll probably regret it and miss it at some point, but I seem to like the projects more than I like the actual using of them.

It helps that I already have my next project

I would probably sell the series and the defender then keep the D1 for everyday and the jeep for fun stuff
