why does my disco keep eating half shaft bolts

what engine?
lockers?
driving style?
wheel/tyre sizes?
what make of replacements have you been fitting?
when do they break?

its a 95 300tdi i use as daily drive and offroad all replacement parts were landrover getting a very bad vibration and steering shake no lockers driving style is semi gentel on the road and offroad it gets a bit of a beating but i try to advoid body damage only wheels on the vehicle are special tracks 265/75/16 with 30mm spacers

Have you balanced the wheels/tyres?

You'll get more transmission problems with grippier tyres because the tyre is grippier, it allows a higher torque to be transmitted before the tyre loses grip. If the tyre is grippy enough, it won't be the "weakest link in the chain" but something else will. You could of course, drive more gently but then you're going to say if you do that, you'll get stuck in marginal conditions where booting it will get you through?

Unfortunately, that's off roading for you. I was at an event yesterday and someone blew 3 CVJs in the day.
 
thanks for all the info guys will get it sorted anyone got a hub kicking about as cant get the broken bolts out of the hub?
