my transit van died, i needed better towing ability on wet grass, windows in the back to make reversing the trailer easier, ability to carry 4 people in comfort and occasionally 7...must be 5 door. old disco was the most cost effective available solution. trooper was on the short ;ist
 
Some ****er stole my 90 after I spent a lot of time rebuilding it then the wife wanted more comfort.

Since big red arrived, the whole family have gone LR mad!
She's towed all of us, including a dog, tent and fookin heavy trailer through landscapes a family saloon would have shuddered at the mere sight of, without so much as breaking a sweat. Couldn't ask for more.

Have an X3 arriving soon (company car) and while I'll enjoy the lower fuel costs (500 commuting miles/week), I'll miss the truck. So, to make it up to her I'll be lavishing her with some tasty off-road treats this autumn :)

It is funny you say that because I find it to be the exact opposite. Most people pull out in front of my disco so that they don't have to be stuck behind it. Either that or they tailgate my ass which isn't quite so annoying but annoying all the same...
 
I've got a 90 & did have a 05 Passat for the family stuff, didn't have it long but had a lot of electric problem's.
At first the wife said it was like driving a minibus but after a week she had to admit I was right.:D

Agree wholeheartedly with this comment. Every day at least one muppet cuts me up. They just don't seem to understand that it's a bad idea to jump in front of 2 tonnes of steel with the braking efficiency of an ICBM. :doh:

One of these days I may decide to not brake at all...

As for the idiots trying to examine the contents of my boot with their headlights, I find this the perfect time to practice 'efficient driving' and love to see their frustration at suddenly driving at 56 mph on a dual carriageway with an 18 wheeler blocking their undertaking escape route. :D

I had this issue the other day, nearly crashed into a neighbour because she pulled out at a roundabout expecting me to brake as it was her right of way and I was literally just crossing over the line. But I knew I didn't have enough stopping distance so I just maintained my speed in the hope that I would clear her, luckily I did.

not exactly a good example rich, you were in the wrong so she didnt exactly cut you up.

How dare she have right of way :rolleyes:
