Why did you buy a defender?

Because the first time i was in one was after a surfing lesson in Cornwall, tide had come in around us so the guy told us jump in the back and we drive out, went through a 'stream' half way up the doors, and it didnt skip a beat, had to have one after that

The lady of the house had always wanted one, but normal cars were always more sensible. Then we got three dogs, and a road car started to look untidy quickly!
Servicing is another expense. Modern road cars are expensive to keep properly serviced. There's pretty much nothing service and general maintenance that I can't do at the roadside, which saves a pretty penny!
And, it does look so cool and meaty!

Got bored with being unable to get the two German cars off the drive when it snows, and fed up with the wife moaning about my damaging her leather interior using her Tourer as a skip!

Defender is great for taking stuff to the tip, putting our ghastly Airedales in, running back and forth to the stables and saving us being marooned in the village when it snows.

Oh, and cause I wanted it

'Cos I have a personality disorder.

Cos she kept whinging every time I took the Disco on work trips. She can't ride my motorbike so I'm selling it and using the Defender as my daily car.

Oh! And I'm having a mid life crisis!

Cos I always wanted one. Now living the dream.

Turn it into a humungus 4x4 weekend camper for fishing trips.

It is the only vehicle you can buy that does everything I need a vehicle to do for work & home.

Got very bored of the old punto very quickly and couldnt stand to drive it for another year and had been hooked on defenders after driving the wroks old beat up 300 tdi. So much more fun to drive than "normal" cars!

My dad used to own a V8 90 years ago and then got a 110 due to having dogs and kids (yes, the dogs come first in pecking order) so I have always been under/in/by one and LOVE them.

bought my first one (series 2a 88") 32 years ago, went to look at a moggie thou advertised in a local garage it was a heap HGF needed a shed load done to it and he wanted **** loads for it .
called into another place and got my 1969 2a been hooked ever since kept that 1 for 12 years ,did a v8 converstion on it ,went back to cars and vans for a couple of years then got my old 87 90 had that about 13/14 years now(i still have it for off-roading) and had a td5 90 and now a 110 crewcab

For carrying outdoor kit, coping with the Forestry track to my Outdoor centre and because they are cool!

I bought it because I like to tinker, don't really know what I'm doing but a defender is just nuts and bolts , because it's been about so long every job that needs doing is well documented.

There's not much you can add to a modern car, the possibilities are endless with a defender

Plus it's cool as f**k

All ive done so far is changed the doors and had all the chequer powder coated but I'm starting the prep in a week or two for the Stornaway grey respray
