Whos running on just petrol??

Me, 3.5l. Just one of the fun cars, not my daily 1.4 lol If you count the pennies its not fun. Dads also pure in the 4.9 Vogue .
 
my 3.9 range is getting around 16mpg average which is a bit poor as most of my time is spend on A roads just trundling along, although i do live in the bottom of a valley so every time i use it i have to make the old girl climb up out of the valley before she gets a chance to fully warm up :(
 
16mpg is pretty good mate, people talk alot of **** but I have only ever seen 18 mpg on a motorway run (my speed varied :p) so you are doing ok.

My best geuine combined figure has been 16 mpg

my plugs are perfect prooving she is set up right
 
Bog standard 3.5efi Vogue auto 45k, no aircon & running Michelin AT tyres, driver only plus minimum luggage. 632miles, 80% of which on motorways & trunk roads cruising at the legal limit, the remainder on a mixture of B class & minor roads plus a small amount of town driving. Overall 22mpg checked by the full tank (more than one!) to full tank method.
 
Only ever run my 3.9 Auto Disco on Petrol - running on 33inch M/Ts gets 13mpg working it out from one full tank to the next but thats a mixture of motorway driving, city driving and pay n play.
 
I've got a P38 4.6 which runs purely on petrol. It makes my eyes bleed every time I fill up and my wallet (not to mention my bank manager) hates me! With the looming increase in fuel prices on Jan 1st it looks like I am finally going to have to go down the LPG route. But petrol is still better than the devils fuel! Pure petrol head me...:D
 
I run both my 3.9Efi RRC's on petrol only. I've never calculated the mpg. The bobtail is a plaything, the green one a daily driver.
To be honest if I was bothered about the fuel economy, and/or needed to commute long distances I wouldn't be using RRC's......though I do often wonder how on kickdown the fuel gauge needle moves in tandem with the rev counter (but in the opposite direction):doh:
 
I run my '87 Vogue auto on the fuel it was designed for. Overall consumption, town & county driving but no short trips to the shops 17mpg, rising to 22/23 on long journeys inc. motorway speeds. I tried LPG on the first of my four RRC's (a 3.9) but never again.


why not lpg again? i want a v8 but as i do at least 30 miles a day to and from work i'm gonna need LPG. Just wanted to know what your reasons are

Personal experience with my first RRC, a 3.9 Vogue auto back in '02. One year & 10K after the conversion it developed the dreaded piston 'tap' that (at first) would disappear after a couple of miles after I switched over to petrol, resulting in the lowering of the combustion chamber temp. Eventually I had to have a new short engine fitted, mega expense:doh: There was never any positive proof that the gas caused the liner failure but there was enough suspicion in my mind for me to avoid the stuff when I subsequently owned my next three RRC's, which were (& are) in fact 3.5's so should not be effected, but I still won't touch LPG again.
 
Who's running on GAS ? if not you are listening to witchcraft pal, injected is the way not sucked in, thats crap. someone said to me " I put a full tank of petrol in and run two or three tanks of gas to that, you have to keep the petrol run through it for lubricating the cylinders". WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you on about, so whats the oil for then, you dipstick ? He said, "well they said the engine dries up" Huh ????????????? !!!!!!!!
Who said? I said? "some Range Rover drivers", he said. I said, do Diesel's run on chip fat, does that make them lubricated too much then, as its got fat in it. ? FM!!!!!!
 
My 4.0L P38 is - :eek:

The LPG packed up when I took the EAS valve block out to repair it.

£35 of LPG will last 3 weeks going to work and pootling about- but I've just used £25 of petrol in one weekend!! :mad:

I'm getting the LPG fixed ASAP!
