Changed Gearbox oil on D2 td5 manual yesterday.. used mtf94. Noticed on drive to work this morning didnt want to go into gear, was fine when warm. Also there is a whoosing noise coming from gear lever area gets louder on acceleration.. I thought somebody had swapped my panel air filter out for a big k&n cone at first..anybody got an idea of what it could be?

very difficult to describe a noise with words. Even harder to understand it.
there are many equivalent oils that do the trick, I used super Tractavia 20W50 which has exactly the same specs :) not even telling you what we use here @ an average temperature of 30ºC.
So the question is.. how cold was it? it is pretty normal to be hard to shift for the first 10 minutes and to sound different @ -5Cº.

Thanks for the Reply, I can only describe it as the sound of a performance air filter (induction kit) like the wooshing noise as your accelerating...but from the gearbox . Like I say its only occurred since changing the oil and your looking at around 10° here this time of year.
