I recently put a post up about me looking at a td5 90.

I currently have a disco td5, modified for off-road & alive tuned, I do love it but have an itch for a 90.

Who on here actually has and takes it off-road, I'm looking for some experience, what mods should I do? Same as the disco, diff guards, steering guards, tank guards, hd steering bars, winch, what else? Want to get really good articulation as that's what I've not got on the disco?

Thanks

ive a 110 td5 thats done some pretty extreme offroading, its never been a problem apart from the fan is to close to the rad, and if a stone gets between blades and rad, its new rad time,
its waded over the bonnet without any problem, and compared to the 200tdi 90 I have, is a nicer drive on the road

i have a 90 Td5, good manners on road and plenty of power off road, fitted a snorkel before being brave enough to go wading. 2' lift if your going for the hard stuff.

I have a 90 td5 which has seen some heavy offroading , it seems more capable than a standard tdi which is slightly off and articulation is really good for a factory setup , I have guards and winch ect... and have been upto the air intake water height , it drank a little but only noticed when removed the air filter and found that muddy watery deposit from the lz bash on it so its pretty robust to take that without dying

its actually my daily driver as I have a tdi for offroad although they both get use , the td5 is very nice onroad and is reasonably comfortable and quiet

Accy reckons carrying a spare alternator is a good idea if thinking of going anywhere near water,

Not so much because the alt is more susceptible than any other but because the engine is so dependant on lecky trickery and a weak charge will leave you stuck roadside in no time
