Hi,
Looking for some help with my 07 Freelander
I have white smoke coming from under the bonnet but not over heating or running low on oil.

I f you look at the picture you can see what looks like a hole that should have a bolt in it ?

Also the plastic pipes above seem to have oil or something on them, is it likely that something is leaking around that area?

Where is the smoke coming from?

I believe it's an unused cover post missing, I've arrowed it in this picture.

I don't think it breaks though to the cam cover, unless someone has put a long bolt in there at some point.

That's pretty normal, it's just oil from the breather circuit leaking through. Tightening the hose clips helps, as does fitting worm clips in place of the factory crimp clips, also visible in my picture. ;)

When I had white smoke coming out from my bonnet (early F1 not an F2) it was a leak back hose that had perished and spilling diesel over hot stuff.

Have you got a diesel leak somewhere?

Thank you, so nothing important should be connected to that hole?
I will get hold of a worm clip and see if that helps, the smoke seems to come from the passenger side of the bonnet. It disappears within a few seconds of turning off the engine .

There definitely seems to be something leaking at the back behind those plastic pipes maybe. Looks more like oil though.

If it's in the location that I've arrowed in my picture, then no, it's an unused engine cover clip, which isn't used when the engine is installed in a Freelander.

Can you see where the smoke is coming from with the bonnet open?
There's not much that can smoke on the HLS, unless it's a leaking thermostat seal (which would be steam) but you'll notice the coolant level dropping.
You could have a fuel leak at an injector, which can give off a fine white mist of fuel, but it would smell of diesel, so should be obvious.
