Hi Guys, have a 2.5 1993 disco that has a high pitched whistle/drill like sound when foots on the accelerator coming from the front of the vehicle.. noise dissaperars as soon as foots off accelerator then sometimes dissapears whens its warmed up.. thought it might b a wheel bearing but dont think its the right sound if that makes sense ??
Any ideas would be really appreciated ! Thanks :)

Have a look at your exhaust manifold to cylinder head gasket and check for soot and noise there. Mine warped the actual manifold at rear cyl and broke the retaining stud. Gave exactly the symptoms you describe and fooled me for quite a while! Worth a look and best of luck!

Turbo is fooked or not getting oil to the bearing check the feed if it's nor blocked and flowing well then it's new turbo time.

Just sounds like the turbo kicking in to me, the whistle is the turbo running, which starts when the engine needs the help, don't worry!

I had a 300tdi with a loose jubilee clip on the turbo input. It whistled like anything. Tightened it and the problem stopped, but they are supposed to whistle to a varying degree! In most cases, it is absolutely normal!
