I have a Landrover Feelander TD4 "52 plate" and it is making a funny noise when driving, the faster i go the louder the noise is can anyone help me in solving my problem as the noise is really begining to get on my nervs.:)

check the rear tyres, if they're "stepped" then this will make the noise you describe. Swap 'em side to side and they will wear the other way and the noise will gradually go away.

Thanks for the reply

Its not coming from the back of the car it is coming from the front

Could be your IRD bearings, VCU bearings or spokey dokeys:p .

Cruise in 5th at around 50mph,

then slowly decrease speed to around 30mph, then gradually to a halt without dropping down a gear. Stay in 5th the whole time.

If its the IRD then the pitch will be a high frequency pitch at 50mph, gradually lowering in pitch to a low frequency drone. The change in sound/tone is distinct.

I had it check out today by a local 4 x 4 specialist and they recon it is the bearings on the prop shaft that is makeing the noise so it is booked in for next week so lets hope that this solvs the noise, Thanks for your help i will let you know what happens.

I was just comin on to post the same question. I thought it could be the prop bearings. How much did it cost to have fixed?

Thanks.
