whirring noise when accelerating + loss of power

Hi all, got a problem with my 02 reg TD4 - it just started happening today all of a sudden. when i accelerate there is a loud whirring noise which seems to be coming from the engine, it seems to start when i get to 2500 rpm. There is also a loss of power, it feels sluggish

I'm a complete noob when it comes to cars so will probably have to take it somewere but just wondered what you guys think it could be?

Hi all, I dd a bit more digging n this site and found similar reports from other people. Looks like I have a split pipe!

Just a couple o jubblie clips and yer should be sorted !

aye cheers fella. got the pipe and clips gonna fit it this afternoon then i can g o faster than 50mph again!
