So, I am wimping out - my sense of humour fails each time I drive my 90 and get cold water from the roof lining, if it has rained since I last drove.

The plan is to fit a hart top without a sunroof, so which type.

From what I can see, there are ribbed and smooth (something else is springing to mind - but I cannot remember what they were for..).

I know I want the County Windows so that the roof lining will fit - but apart from that which one should I get?

Cheers

Rob.

Why not just seal the sunroof properly so it won't open. Lot less feckin' about and you've stll got some benefit from it.

I thought the ribbed roofs were earlier series (88") and won't fit a 90/Defender/later models ... might be wrong ... ;)

Interesting ideas Gents - I was under the impression that whatever you did they leaked in water - when I purchased the Landy, the sun-roof was taped over - and it still leaked.

Cheers, Rob

Iit depends on the age of your vehicle,
a) ribbed roof - series/early 90s 110s
b) Smooth Roof - Defender <2002
c) Smooth Roof, with small ribs 2002<Onwards

Travis perkins frame sealant or Aquasure that'll sort it. Clean all the s*#t of itfirst make sure its dry and bobs your uncle.

Hey Mark, thanks for the advice. Are you talking about taking out the seal, filling the groove with sealent, then fitting the seal?

I guess you are also thinking about not having the sunroof useable?

Cheers

Quick update.

Have decided to take advice and not change roof. I've found a sunroof supplier locally that has some original but old seals or can replace my old sunroof with the newer version for £250. I've decided to have the lot replaced - he says he warranties it watertight for 3 years - I'm pretty sure that this is more than LR did!

It is going to be fitted when the bits arrive in around a week - I'll keep you posted.

Cheers
