Which Td4 engine is this?

I've done a quick search but haven't found anything stating the difference between this engine with hat looks like a MAF sensor on the intercooler hose, and my engine which doesn't have it.
I'm guessing one is the 110hp & one is the 112hp? But which one is which?
I'm planning to do the Synergy Tuning Box upgrade with the Mercedes MAF sensor so it mine situated elsewhere or is that just not an option for me?

Later Td4's have an inlet temp sensor in the inlet pipe, the maf sensor is by the air filter.
The higher bhp is for cars with manual gearbox, a different mapping for autos gives a lower bhp.
Contact Ron if unsure.

That's interesting. There is nothing in my manual about the auto being detuned.
Only that the fuel consumption is worse and the co2 terrible (and a mortgage required to pay the road tax :D )

I have the temperature sensor, but my wires were broken when I bought the car, so it obviously doesn't work. What effect would this have on the engine?

a.f.a.i.k. .. rover ron has taken into account the fact that ..
for td4s without the a.i.t. sensor on the post-intercooler pipe
the i.a.t. is measured via the maf sensor ..
i think it's compensated for within the synergy-box circuitry

you could always email him and ask ..
although i think the info. is on one of his web articles ..
maybe the 'maf' page .. or 'synergy' page .. or related to fitting a pierburg maf ..
( 'cause the 'bosch' maf incorporates a.i.t. sensing .. but the pierburg doesn't .. a.f.a.i.k. )

in theory .. it might be running with the ecu default of -5c a.i.t.
( source: m47r_diesel.pdf (5 MB) )

if so .. the air fuel mix would be very rich .. i guess that would show up somehow
e.g. low mpg .. higher emissions .. higher diesel-knock noise .. 'n such ..
( especially in summer i'd imagine )

those thermo resistor sensors ( a.i.temp. and coolant temp. ) work via electrical resistance

maybe if your using a synergy-box the scenario would be different .. i don't know ..
( see prev. post ) ..
maybe if your using a bosch maf .. the a.i.t. sensing would revert to the maf sensor ?
( don't know if that would be the case or not )
