got home, found a nice puddle I'd left earlier.

oil is coming from the joint between the front O/S swivel where it bolts onto the axle housing (bit with about 8-10 bolts on it)

which seal have i buggered? so i can go get a new one.

got to do a couple of work runs, presumably it will be fine as long as I top the diff oil back up.

if its coming from joint between chrome ball and axle tube youd need to undo the 7 bolts ,pull ball away an inch or so clean and reseal with silicone etc or is it running from swivel seal

the first one., the joint with the 7 bolts on it, not the swivel itself.

That doesn't sound too bad a job, she's breaking me in gently. is it just normal silicone? will give it a good clean up with petrol/IPA first.

noob question, do i need to drain the diff first? Im guessing not, most of the oil will have drained back into the pan, unless I'm completely dense and its not diff oil at all.

if you jack up that side only a dribble of oil should come out ,it normally has a gasket but silicone works and you cant pull half shaft out far enough to fit a new gasket with out removing brake or pipe ,bolts are 14mm /9/16 bi hex a long good quailty spanner is recommended and start all well before you do any up as you cant get spanner on bolt head if some are done up and others not started

well, sorted it, would have done it sooner if id realised how easy it would be to sort...

loose bolts...

of the 7, only 2 were tight, the others at various stages of "not tight" from spanner tight to finger, all tightened up, no leaky...
