Which oil for 2003

Usually, I'm not a pedantic sort of person but I've been looking in my Haynes book to see what oil I need in my 2003 petrol Freelander. It says, upto 2003 use 10W/40 and from 2003 use 5W/30. So, is mine upto or from 2003. Probably doesn't matter but I've got to buy some and I might as well get the recommended stuff. Also, whilst I'm here, to replace my dipstick, I have to turn it about 180 degrees for it to slot home. Are they all like that?

Seconded.
No K series should be run on 5w30 as it's far to light. 10w40 semi synthetic or fully synthetic.
