which landy??

Have been interested in getting landy for past year , i am unsre what to go for , budget s about £3.5K to 4k or what my money will byuy me ?? All i see is defender s with 120k on the clock , is this high miles for a defender , i would prefer a diesel for tunning poetential, can any one give me some advice ??

120K is nothing - loads of motors on here with well over 200K on them. Easy to fix, anyway.

3 1/2 grand, in this current economic climate'l get you a decent 300tdi 90 with maybe 100k on clock, maybe less. Miles aint the deal with landys, its chassis condition, crossmember condition, gearbox, service history, and wat kinda life its had!I would try to avoid one thats mean modded for a offroad lifestyle, avoid one with checker platin (on principle) but also cos it is well used ta hide rot, especially on door edges, rear crossmember. hope that helps!

avoid deependers for that money as of course it will be freshly waxoyled.If you do noy have a mind for inspection your self trust only those you know.Avoiding dealers and going private is best BUT take your time.Failing that buy a RANGE ROVER with a v8 innum that way you will have a proper wagon.

i prob would only use it for green laning and the odd site visit when i get a chance ? would a tidy series 3 be an option ?or are they to old? old range rover would be nice but i have read alot about them roting ? appreciate all the advice guys

Take your time and look for a 90, like rada surf said, make sure the underside is ok. I got mine for £1500, its 20 years old but well looked after.

dont go for a series,hold on and find ya self a good 300tdi 90.they are easy t tune.just make sure the chassis,bulkhead and axles arnt rotted t ****,ignore milage that dont mean ****,it might have been t the moon and back with the speedo disconected!dont go for a polished turd,just a good honest lookin un.

Get yerself a nice 200tdi Defender, much easier tae work on than a 300tdi

A 200 tdi deepender is the easiest to work on.However i would favour a series and for 1k you may do well saving you loads for mods,get a series and wack a v8 on gas then the best it will be.a series chassi replacement is only 1k!

get a coiler,ya can play about wi am mor.i am not saying leafers are crap i av done many thousands of miles in em.if ya want a cheap coiler get a disco,ya cud always bobtail it or mek it inta a pick up?

Wont go worng with any of em-well id stay clear of freebies.
