Which caravan?

Caravan! If you spent £6000 to get a descent caravan you could go and stay in a £60 b+b 100 times instead. That's two weeks a year for 7 years and doesn't include caravan insurance, maintenance, etc etc........

No towing. Warm bed. Hot showers. Someone else cooks the full English in the morning.....

Try 5 people high summer and see how much accomodation costs

I'm considering getting a cheap one for Goodwood, only minor concern I have is there are no weights on my VIN plates. Is that likely to be an issue?

What are you actually asking
VIN often are not filled in completely, you can google towing capacity.

..... Must admit we just purchased a 20 year old one for £400 and its awesome..

I have the owners manual in the car with the ratings, just thought it was odd to have a blank plate.

£400 is a bargain, unfortunately if/when I do something I'm going to have to pay for storage too.

Coincidentally, I bought this today

A wee classic - 1989 Castleton. I'd never heard of them before, we went to a cheap caravan dealer to look at something else. Apparently one of the last coachbuilt caravans, built in Dorset. I found a 1990 price list- almost £12.000 new, about the same as a BMW 316!
It looks almost new inside, has oak veneered cupboards, hot & cold water, heating, shower etc. The cooker looks like it's never been used (the grill pan definitely hasn't!). Oh, and it has 2 doors - one on each side!
Just in time too, the old Esterel has bitten the dust (near enough) and we're off on our annual music festival fortnight next week!

Does two doors not take up usable space?
It's very clever, but hard to describe. Just by the offside door is the door to the toilet / shower room, but the toilet takes up the whole space. Open the door 90 degrees and it closes the room to the rest of the van, while doubling the space. The shower tray folds down from the wall opposite the toilet. I'll try to post a couple of photos tomorrow.

Where might one find said dealer?
Do they have a website?
The caravan you have bought looks brill!! I'd love to see some more pics of it inside and out!!

Said dealer is in Lochgelly in Fife, and as far as I can tell sells cheap vans without checking or servicing them. The 2 we drove up there to look at were sold, but he didn't get in touch to let us know. He had 2 available, one of which was riddled with damp. He did say he didn't do warranties, but I ignored that, given that there are laws to say otherwise. I missed the fact that he wrote on the invoice "sold for spares or repair", which it clearly wasn't! I wouldn't recommend the place, but I reckon we got lucky. It was a bit of a gamble, not knowing whether electrics, gas etc. were OK, but everything works except for a broken water heater inlet (a new one was £7), a fuse and a lock for the toilet panel on the outside of the van, another few quid.

Photos to follow soon!
