I'm looking to buy an OBD2 bluetooth adaptor so I can read the Freelander codes & also get the live data either on my iPhone or iPad. I know many people on here have used them with Android phones but can anyone recommend one that works with Apple products?
I've seen loads on eBay but when they list the vehicles they are compatible with they haven't listed Land Rover.
Has anyone used any?

Apple bluetooth is pants

But I have seen a wifi reader adaptor work on a ipad 1st gen before, to say the ipad was jailbroken I couldnt say if anything else was I stalled

I hate to admit it but Android does seem a lot more functional.
My dad, sister & brother-in-law seem to be able to do a lot more with their phones than I can on my Apple.

It depends on what you want to do.

My iPhone/iPad/MacBook Pro all share stuff seamlessly and sync with each other. I struggled to get windoze to do the same. They aren't perfect. Not even samsung is. iOS is much improved, but has miles to go, as does Android.

You pays your money and makes your choice.

Thankfully we live in a free world in the UK.

We are all different. If we whew all the same life would be so dull.

Oh, we all have Freelanders :D

But there is the 1.0 & 1,1 (ie the 1.8 & L series)
Then the 2.0 withe the TD4

........I'm loosing the plot here.

I Phone / I Pad are fashion accessories.
The Android system is designed to make the device functional.
There is a place for both platform's. It just depends on your needs.

I was looking at an OBD2 app for andriod - just wondered if my 1998 1.8 is obd2 or is it something elarlier?
cheers :)

I've got one of these ELM327 WIFI Wireless OBD2 OBDII Car Auto Diagnostic: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
This uses Wifi rather than Bluetooth because Apple Bluetooth isn't quite the same as everyone else's (surprise surprise)

Word of warning though - if you get one of these, it runs whether your ignition is on or off, so don't leave it plugged in for a week or your battery will be flat.

Which software do you use?
My wireless OBD arrived today, iPad recognises it but Rev doesn't find it!

Have bought the Dashcmd app. Wifi OBD2 devices is recognised easily & the app is able to read codes on Vivaro, Micra & V40.
Will have to unplug something on the Freelander & see if it registers it because I have no fault codes at the moment but that might be that the engine is working properly!

It's called EngineLink, works for both iPhone and iPad but different apps so if you want both you have to pay for both, if you see what I mean!

I'm a bit disappointed with it though. The fault code reader seems to work and it gives speed, revs and temperature, but not fuel level so you can't check your MPG accurately (which is why I wanted it).

Fuel level isn't available on the live data on the Freelander.
I use Torque on my Droid. It displays all live data including fuel supplied to the engine. Torque gives the option to input the current fuel level then works out the fuel usage and miles remaining from the guage level that was input.
