Which Battery for a TD5

Flat old battery got replaced with a posh Calcium one from Halfords, only to find that the new battery is too deep to fit in the battery box - odd that!
Anyone got any recomendations for a battery make/model that will physically fit my 2000 TD5?

Halfords should stock a calcium battery to fit a td5 as have fitted one in for a member not long back just need to ask them which one is listed for that model sorry cant be more help mate
 
Hi Darren.
I bought the Calcium one that in listed by Halfords, and this is the one that doesnt fit properly. It was an HCB072.
It drops into the battery box, but the bottom flanges stop it going all the way in. If I can't find a suitable alternative, I'll get one again and put a ply plate under it or something.

I spent time looking around for a new Battery, but in the end opted for genuine Land Rover TD5 D2 Battery. YGD 100860. £150 incl vat from main dealers. £80 + vat Paddocks ?
 
I had same problem and then remembered they have removable packers did you check they were at narrow setting ??
know may sound stupid but done this as wel then seen they could be un clipped to make fitt in to tray better ???

Nope - no packers here. Thats a shame. I dont want to spend £150 on a battery so I might try and make the £100 Halfords one work with a ply plate in the bottom of the battery box.

You can clearly see internal angle at the bottom of the pic which is stopping the Halfords battery from reaching the bottom of the box.

I have personally removed a HCB072 from a td5! I also replaced it with another 072 battery. This td5 was 1999 though, yours?

Maybe the plastic liner is removable?
 
Mines a 99 too. The battery does go into the hole, but does not sit on the bottom. The angle on the back edge of the box holds the battery up off the bottom. To clamp it up sufficiently to hold the battery would distort the box for sure.
 
Received the C31-1000 this morning - only ordered it yesterday from megabattery so great service there.
Fit like a glove. Lets hope it lasts, but its got a 4year warranty anyhow.
So far so good.
