Am thinking of investing in an air compressor for the workshop as have a few air tools hanging about - impact gun, ratchet, tyre inflator etc.

Problem is, have no idea which one I would need! Would like to be able to use the windy-gun and also spray gun as required.

Any help would be handy

the biggest and best quality you can afford, look at the machine mart web site for idea's.

Really? As easy as that??

I was expecting to be told that I needed 100L air tank, 135.7BHP Air-flow reverse thrust and left-hand screwage for speed!!

I think it boils down how you are going to use it.

I have a 100 litre one and it works great for everything except spray painting and running my air powered orbital sander. These work but you have to start and stop while the compressor catches up. I don't mind so much but it would be nicer if I had a bigger tank.

I bought a 25l job from Lidl for £90, it's not powerful enough to run a windy gun but seems fine with a spraygun/tyre inflator. For it's size, the motor is pretty powerful - 3.5hp/9cfm.

I'm planning to get a 2nd one, connect them both to a 47kg propane can so they both run together and use the gas can for additional air storage - for under £200 it should be ok :D

If you would rather just buy a complete one, you can't go too far wrong with machine mart. Just make sure you get one with a high enough output to cope with tools you may buy in the future.
