Need to change the ABS ECU, and I don't know which type to get.

On the ebay there are types ANR1250 and ANR4898. I assume they are not interchangable.

Which is correct for a MArch 2001 2.5 Diesel?

There are I think several different ones. Yours will have 4 wheel TC which narows it down a bit. Best way is to check the part number on your faulty one.

ANR1250 rear wheel TC. ANR4898 4 wheel TC. Latest version SRD100501. Bloody silly daft money for any of them new. Rave says behind glove box.

Oh.

That's good info. Thanks Wammers. They can be found for about £20 on ebay.

From Datatek's info, I need a 4 wheel TC type then.

Anyone else got a suggestion on where its located in the car?

It's not under the passenger seat. All you will find there are the Auto, EAS & Transfer box ECU's.
Try a site search, it has been covered before.

There is a schematic in RAVE that appears to show it around steering column, but in the component location table, ABS ECU is listed as being "Beneath facia on passenger side of bulkhead". That would be behind glove box. Just to add. In RAVE showing removal of ECU it shows steering column closure panel being removed to get at it so your guess is as good as mine. Also the Russian Microcat site seems to have gone down (Expired domain).

Passenger footwell. Look upwards. 3 bolts.

You have the later 4 wheel traction one. Costs a hell of a lot more than the pre 2000s.

I had to get one, silly money!

You may be lucky on Ebay. Old boxes are silver, your version is black.

If I recall correctly, the later types ABS ECU is in the engine compartment. For the older ones, pre 4 wheel TC, the ECU is behind the glove box compartment in the LHD models. Not sure for RHD.

No ABS ECU in engine compartment on any P38 as far as i know.

As Rachelkgr said - up behind glove box on a RHD model. Might be able to get it out without removing the glove box itself if you are lucky...

Though glove box is only a few bolts and screws anyway.

Got mine out without removing it....but you have to get right into the footwell and look up. Does crick your neck!! :crutch:

I stand corrected.

RAVE said:
The ABS system on vehicles up to 99MY uses a ’C’
series ABS ECU which includes an optional two wheel
electronic traction control feature. The ECU has a
single connector and is located on the bulkhead
behind the glovebox.

On vehicles from 99MY a ’D’ series ABS ECU is used.
The ’D’ series ECU features four wheel electronic
traction control which is a standard feature on all
models. The ECU has three connectors and is located
in the same position as the ’C’ series ECU.

+1. The confusion with the steering wheel is due to it being up by the steering column on LHD, the tech writer got confused.

Yep it would seem that way. Think there are a few confused technical writers that work for Land rover. Hope they never get to work on the production line. Or you really would get the Camel being a Horse designed by a committee syndrome. :D:D
