hi, i insure my 1999 freelander for £140 with cherished car insurance for £140 for the year fully comp 1500 mile limit over that reverts to third party

Hi guys, found a freelander locally, and it seems to be a bit of a bargain at only £1000 for a 2001.
It has 150k on the clock- is this too much?

However, not much info, I got the guys number now so will speak with him tomorrow.

Also not sure if this is the td4 or not?

I think the TD4 has td4 on the back. If no TD4 or v6, I think that means it is a 1.8 petrol.

What about a scenic there was a 4x4 of that wasn't their, or 1 of those jap import mini van things that are jacked up?
Or even a 4x4 Lanzhou I bet they would be reletavly cheap to insure

everytime the k-series is mentioned there is a furore against it

td4's are just as bad if not worse

And I respectfully disagree! You have 24K+ posts, and I respect your opinion, but IF I could source a diesel plant for my wife's V6, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Can we agree to disagree?

That is your right as an LZer ;)

Doozles are good for submerging and towing that I'll agree to.
Petrol k series is an excellent engine if maintained correctly.

I have owned most 4x4 variants over the years and to be honest the all have there faults in one for or another, landrover is good because there are tons of parts around and they are mostly cheap.
Suzuki sj absolutely amazing off road with choice modifications I currently own two as well as my freelander one is spoa with a chassis cab pick up body that I am just about to tube, it runs a 1600 vitara engine 413 gearbox and samurai axles 33x13 tyres and goes almost where I point it. But it's ****e on fuel and not much better on the road. Owned loads of them over the years and will include a pick of my old tinny

Series Humm tough one that. I sold my series 3 petrol to buy the freelander. I loved it to bits was fun to drive and cheap to insure as it's a classic but again fuel cost killed it for me. I painted mine up a funky camo and fitted a winch and stuff used to get use as an airsoft combat truck

300tdi disco... Good truck again owned one for a couple of years mine was lifted 4 inches 35 inch rubber winch etc etc all carpet removed fuel turned up turbo turned up stereo turned up but rust is the killer if you can't weld if you can buy an mot fail and repair much cheaper.
Had a v8 es too but I regret selling that to much to talk about it

Nissan.... Japanese reliability I had an old leaf sprung patrol but parts were hard to come by for my year again juicy but my one was a 3.0td

Freelander td4 well bloody good on fuel fits in car parks (not for much longer mind) drives well easy to work on will be getting offroad action and towing my boat

Lots to choose from 😀
Insurance try Adrian flux not to bad for young drivers just make sure it's a brand name you use. A bud of mines lad had £3000 quid taken from him by a fake company of course never got it back

Could have I suppose. Its not some left over L Series car registered late after production? They had no diesel badging. Is it auto? The L Series wasn't available (I think) in auto. Mind you I think the L Series didn't come with clear front indicators - they were yelllow. Need a pic of the engine bay.

Mine is a td4 but it's not badged as one anywhere on the car
It a 51plate my next door neighbour has a 54 plate face lift and that does have td4 badges
