hi peeps

this question may or may not of been asked before but where can i take power so can fit rear working lights on my D1 ?

was thinking maybe take power from the tow bar electrical system ?

would this be a viable idea??
or could anyone suggest another point for power??
would be having a switch in the rear so ask this so as to keep the wiring as short as poss ??

thanks in advance for any good suggestions

Ordinarily, I would say use a relay and to take a fused feed direct from the battery, which is fine if you're going to be switching your worklamps from the dash, as you've got to run wires from the front to the back anyway.

But if all you want to do is switch them from the back, then you already have a 20A fused supply at the back, behind the RH trim.

As you've already said, this is for the towing electrics.

It's on a Purple/Brown trace wire, which is terminated in a RISTS female bullet connector.

Assuming that you are using two worklamps, of no more than 55w each, then as long as you use a decent quality switch rated to switch at least 10A or more, you don't need a relay.

Carling switches are rated at 20A - MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, Carling Technologies Switches, Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire

Durite/Eaton Switches are rated at 15A - VWP - modular rocker switches & warning lights

.

thanks discool for the search (did try but didnt get that result SORRY ) and thanks paul will look at wiring in off that supply as saves having to run the wire the whole length of landy as will be switched from rear when i need to use them :)
well thanks sorted thanks peeps
