Where to mount towball on britpart bumper ?

Purchased myself a over-due winch bumper for the truck today and what a difference it has made .

Ita a Britpart DA5621 Winch bumper and is it a great piece of kit to look at , it sits really flush to the grill which makes the front look shorter than other bumpers .

Anyway , I would like a tow ball mounted on for recovery use with the winter coming and would like some advise on where to put one .

Anyone ??

remember the ball is at the top otherwise the rope will fall off and trailors/caravans will tow upside down.....

You shouldn't mount a towball on it for recovery purposes. Those with towballs mounted on the front are designed for positioning large caravans/trailers. (reversing a trailer/caravan can be a right bitch) While I'm sure they have been used for recovery, they are actually very dangerous for this purpose.

What you need are proper swivel recovery eyes. You already have mounting points for them.

I'm also looking for some but they all seem to be around £40.00+. Cheaper and easier than fitting a tow hitch though...

I didnt mean recovery as such more for use with a rigid tow arm made from scoffolding pipe .

Tow -straps are a pain for towing with being , well , not rigid so a towball to towball is how we tow when one of us breaks down (not usually me

its the suzukis)

So would it be safe for that sort of use ??

Why not drill holes at either end of the scaffold, attach rated shackle's to the scaffold bar then attach this to a secure recovery point on the vehicle/bumper. A tad safer perhaps?

Not as such . We towed a discovery home the way u just described , one tow ball mount and onne shackle mounted . It twisted the shackle and scoured the bumper to **** . Tow ball to tow ball is a much better way .

You would still be better off using a rigid tow bar for that purpose, like what the AA use. The plus point is that they're universal and don't take up much space when stored away. Some also have spring dampers.
