Hi guys I'm looking for somewhere that sells rattle cans
everywhere I hear you say!
The problem is I've been told my car is java black but I've been to halfords and a few other car care shops and the Java black they sell is Metallic mine isn't
also if I'm spraying on to the bear aluminum of the tailgate do I need a special primer or will regular primer be ok?

You need acid etch primer for alloy. For best job you need to rub it down dry with some say 320 paper to remove oxidisation and give a slight key, blow it off then spray within fifteen minutes or so of doing that. Alloy oxidises very quickly after surface has been exposed it is it's way of sealing itself. But it also prevents paint from sticking. Tha's why you need acid etch primer.

i use brown brothers check on google to see if near you ,paint quality is better than a lot, they will mix you aerosol can up of any colour you want ,if you want other amounts dont tell them its for a car as they will only sell water based paint (non hazardous emissions although the lacquer you have to put over it is as bad as old paint was) but maybe that only applies to trade

Used Brown Bros a lot years ago but last time found they had gone seriously expensive. Their cellulose was through the roof in comparison to some local suppliers.

can be but good quality, made up cans are cheap enough, and there trade satin black cans bring old plastic cappins /bumpers etc back to new without looking painted ,just fades off after a few years
