Where is the solenoid????

Having the usual trouble with the Drivers door locking on the Key Fob but having to use the key to unlock. So this morning I"ve been out to the Freelander and removed the Door Card, but that"s it.I just don"t know what I"m supposed to be looking for. I think by the forum pages that it must be the solenoid which is at fault, but where is the solenoid, how do I take it off and is it safe to buy one from a scrap yard?
Any help and photos would be appreciated.

The lock actuator motors are part of the latch assembly. So the latch assembly needs replacing as a unit. It's a common problem and replacements is the only sure fix.

Thanks for that, but do I have to remove the outer door handle?

No just the control rods from it. The latch is a separate unit to the handle. Just follow the wires to fint the latch assembly.

Sorry to be such a nuisance, but are there any screws/ bolts to undo?

Yes a few. The latch is securely screwed to the door frame. It has to keep the door shut in the event of an accident, so yes it's well attached to the door.
