previously had some Alloys on my defender and they had standard alloy wheel nuts (fitted correctly and you obviously couldn't see thread length.

Popped on some modulars and now the weird bit-one wheel is perfect studs level with the end of steel wheel nuts.

Couple of the others vary quite a bit and you can see upto 3 threads not in use.

Has anyone come across this before and is it possible I have one hub with longer wolf studs?- forgive me for asking this but it was cold and dark so I have only checked the nuts the same and yet to measure stud length.

Only thing I can think of is the studs vary in length-or the taper on either the wheel or nut varies.

opinions on a postcard please

Alloy wheels is thicker than steels. With steels fitted I have about 3 or 4 threads showing too.

Alloy wheel studs have what looks like a flat head screwdriver slot on the end of em. Steel wheel nuts don't. It sounds like either somebody has stuck a couple of steel wheel studs on it or they are not fully pulled through/correctly located. First things first. Look for the slots.;)

thanks ratty, no slots and they vary in length, when I get a chance I'll measure them-maybe they are not seated correctly. I'll also watch they don't come loose-just seems strange differing lenghs on same hub.
