Hi,
No doubt someone else has asked, but here goes.
Is it safe to fit 5mm or 10mm Wheel Spacers? to my 2001 Freelander.
The reason I ask, is, I have tried for ages to get a set of Alloy wheels and only get offered Wheels that fit earlier Freelanders. I have now been offered a set of Alloys at a reasonable price but these also only fit earlier Freelanders. I dont go Off Road(Hold my head in shame) and I dont corner at excessive speeds, so I shouldn"t be putting too much pressure on the drive-train etc.
Any advice would be appreciated
Dave

Hi,

Will 5mm be enough to enable you to fit the older style wheels?

Thin spacers should be no problem.

So that I have enough clearance for my 9mm snow-chains, I fit 10mm spacers to the front wheels and 7mm ones on the rear wheels.

Any more than 10mm and you would need longer studs and then you're into greatly increased stress & strain levels.

Hope that helps you.

Singvogel.
