ive got some on mine but it looks as though the inside of the rim had to be ground a little to make em fit , and they are still very tight.
i may be selling mine soon if you are after some that fit.

To be honest I got some!

Picked them up but they dont fit perfectly! Soo peed of at the moment!

My best mate helped me and he's a audi mechanic and he is the one that told me that it didn't fit perfectly! when i looked there was a little ridge on the inside! just stopping it from fitting on!

has anyone elce grounded them off! Is it a good idea or bad?

Thanks
tom

no worries fella.
you might try some rangie bits , the star bits that screw onto the front of the hub , cant think what they are called now.
il go and get a pic of the inside of my wheel if you like , show you how much you need to take off.
ive got the wheel off doing a bearing already.

here ya go.

looks like a fair chuink has been taken out of it , and not with a grinder either.
might need to take em to an alloy wheel specalist.

I would be VERY careful before you start grinding anything.

You need assertain that the bit thats been ground off, doesn't make up any of the mating surfaces for example that make up the elastic compression that keeps the wheels on the car!

very true , mine look as if they have been ground symetrically so i really wouldnt go using a grinder on them.
see all those arses selling rrc alloys on e blag saying they will fit defenders , i suspect most of them are talking outta their arses.

yeah! going to phone some places tomorrow and ask! and if they say yes i will probally take them in! i dont want to grind them unless i have to! but i have seen them on qite a few defenders! and i know that they will fit on the back but not on the front!!

the small ridge is stopping them sliding in to position all they way! they fit on, on one side but on the other there is about a 2 mm gap! i dont want to fit anything dangerous on but i do need some new wheels and i dont have a lot on money at the moment and i want some better ones to the car feels better!! becuase my current ones are very thin off roading ones and they are noisy and dont grip very well!!!

i take it you have the special wheel nuts for them as well?

what condition are they in? ive seen rangie wheels fetch over 100 quid on e blag , might be cheaper to flog them and put your money towords some defender wheels/tyres than getting them modded to fit.

them wheels you got were machined rob, not had to be honest but quite dificilt to get people to do it these days. Messing about with a grinder on wheels is asking for trouble:D:D

yup , to be fair though, rangie wheels do look pretty awfull on defenders.
im going back to steel wheels me , if i can find some 2a one ton rims that is.

That's yer best bet matey - I just got some 7J Disco 1 steelies with tyres fer £31 on e-blag so it definitely can be done ;)

can the hub driving member be altered to fit rangie wheels?
i mean if its too much hassle to alter the wheels , why not alter the hub?
perhaps use rangie hub driving members?
should only be 7 or 8 quid each.

just read this thread and i cant beleive the ****e you are spouting. the rangie rostyle wheels were actually fitted as an optional extras on defenders after 1991/2 so as for the so called tossers selling em on ebay talking out of their arses i suggest you have a rethink. i have a set for sale at the minute that were factory fitted to a defender but, like i said, they will only fit on a later defender

just having a re-think now , ah i see your confusion , we are talking about 3 spoke alloys , not rostyle steel wheels.;)

good stuff , so , all he has to do is see if he can fit some later hub flange driving members. might just sort it.

dunno what i am going to do yet!

I spoke to my Landy Man and he says i have 3 options -

Buy spacer kit
Machine Them
Sell them.

I will decide on sunday what i am going to do! if anyone wants them pm me!
