front nearside wheel bearing had packed up on my 02 freelander. i am after some advice on doing this job myself. if its easy enough?. does it need to be pressed out and back in?, and is there anything else to be weary off

Had a driveshaft replaced by an independent LR garage. I asked if it was worth changing the wheel bearings while the hub was apart and was advised that its an additional two hour job to do that, so No. Suggests pullers and presses are a requirement.

hi pal,
if you've got patience,a heavy hammer and some good knowledge, you'll manage to do it no probs...
i've just done my n/s/f bearing in under an hour,so it cant be that bad...
check what bearing it is you need as there's 2 types!...
if its a standard bearing,£30 is about right...if its the one with the magnetic inners for the ABS,well you're looking at anything from £60 upwards depending on where you get it from...
if your chassis has 1A000000,its the standard bearing,if its got 2A000000 in it,sadly its the dear one...
email me and i'll give you the lowdown on how best to do it...
cheers,take it [email protected]
