Had to replace the rear hub, because the bearing had completely fell apart and the hub was really worn.

Got the new bearing races in ok, go to put the hub on complete with bearings and seal. Push the hub on and can't seem to get it far enough on to be able to get the spacer on never mind the nut aswell! i took the seal off to see how far on it will go to make sure it wasn't the seal restricting it, and it was exactly the same. The inner bearing i'm sure is reaching the ledge on the stub shaft.

Anyone had the same thing hapen? how would i know if the stub shaft needed replacing?

haha! when you took the original bearings out are you SURE the inner race part came with it? i had the same thing the other month. as the bearing disintergrated, i had only pulled out the needle rollers and outer part. the inner race had welded itself to the stub axle! a new stubby was needed at £50 a piece!

did you also get the cups in right?

have you made sure yer bearings are fully home?

Oh i'm wondering if that's it, should the shaft have a lip on it, then a tapered bit, then a straight bit. The amount of room on the shaft before the thread for the nuts, is aprox 2 of the bearings, is that how it should be?

how, ah say how can you not take the inner race off? ah mean its big enough and its not like it its the only bearing with one. you really should pay more attention to yer heinz manuel

well its the 1st time ive id ever done it! i couldnt take it off because it had got hot and fused itself to the stub axle, not knowing exactly what a stub axle should look like, i thought nothing of it... then after a while i sussed it!

if you pulled out the entire race without much difficulty then you prob pulled it out.

the stubby should be: flange - raised edge where bearing fits - main shaft

If there is another slight raise before the main shaft, then maybe your inner race is stuck. if it is, dont bother cutting it off, i did mine but the metal must have fatigued and the new bearing wouldnt slide on. i tried grinding it down a bit and polishing it, but i made a mess :( just buy a brand new smooth one.

hope you solve it, cos its a pain in the arse.

Cheers G, sussed it out yeah sounds exactly like yours.
Went over to paddocks and picked up a new one, looks nothing like my old one!:D
Started taking the bolts out of the old 1, and one bloody sheared off. So i've got that bugger to look forward to now, still it's all good fun!;)
Has anyone got any tips to get the rest of the bolt out? My next attempt was going to be to try and tap the thread out, with hammer and centre punch but not sure how easy that will be. So if anyone's got any better idea's they'll be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thats very good of you, my concern about drilling it was if the drill ran off slightly and damaged the threads, cause i'll be buggered then!!
So i think i'll give the other way a go, and if i get stuck with that, then go down the stud extractor route.

Thanks

ow, your ****ed now, what an arse! dont know what to suggest really. i think that part of the axle can be changed anyway. worth looking into if you really **** it. good luck anyway.
